“Daarna” means Our Home in Arabic — a community-led initiative to create a shared cultural and educational space for Sudanese people in London. It’s a welcoming home that celebrates culture, unity, and identity where young and old come together through Qur’an sessions, cultural workshops, and community events that honour our roots while inspiring our future.
With everything happening in Sudan today, Daarna feels more important than ever a way for the diaspora to stay connected, share pride in our heritage, and strengthen the bonds that keep our community together.
“A place to celebrate our heritage, connect generations, and strengthen our identity.”
Programs we plan:
Built by the community, for the community.
Shared traditions, events, and celebrations.
Elders & youth learning side by side.
Art, music, food, and language.
A safe, welcoming home for every voice.
Donate, volunteer, or share our story — every action brings us closer to opening Daarna.
No. Daarna is a community-led, not-for-profit initiative.
Initial facility rental, community programming setup, and essential operating costs.
Email sudandarna@gmail.com with the subject “Updates”.
We’re currently registered as a not-for-profit company while our Charity Commission application is in progress. This allows us to fundraise transparently and open a community bank account.
Once our charity status is approved, we’ll enable Gift Aid — so UK taxpayers can boost their donation by 25% at no extra cost.
Every pound goes directly towards our setup and operations — securing a venue, community programs, and basic running costs. We publish updates as the campaign progresses.
Absolutely! Share our campaign link, invite friends, or introduce Daarna’s idea to your network — every bit helps.
